Preservationists of Michigan City

319 E 9th Street
319 East 9th Street (before restoration)
This Queen Anne style home is part of the Elston Grove Historic District. Having suffered abandonment and fire, the house was slated for demolition. But because of its graceful design and centrality to the neighborhood, the Preservationists adopted the house and saved it. William Goodhue, who settled in the area in 1836, built this house in the 1880s.
